Emergency Response Team (ERT)

The mission of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) is to:

  • Increase awareness about emergency preparedness activities
  • Provide structured and systematic training for the membership’s Readiness, Response, and Recovery efforts
  • Provide effective and immediate communication strategies to facilitate and aid in preparedness and response
  • Provide steps for early response and efficient recovery
  • Provide resource support and guidance for sorority members and the communities impacted by natural or man-made disasters

Emergency Preparedness

With spring storm patterns approaching, now is a great time to prepare for lightning strikes & thunderstorms. Here are tips to remember:

  • Avoid water. Immediately move away from ponds, lakes & other bodies of water
  • Do not bathe, shower, wash dishes, or have any contact with water during a thunderstorm; lightning can travel through a buildings plumbing
  • Don’t touch electronic equipment
  • Invest in battery-operated weather radio
  • Have surge protectors
  • Avoid windows, doors, porches & concrete
  • Seek shelter immediately, even if caught out in the open
